Lexus RC 2025: The Adventure Ends This Year

Cars come and go—that’s the automotive industry. Still, especially as an automotive journalist, it’s hard not to feel a bit sad when a model as distinctive and unique as the Lexus RC leaves the market.

2025 will mark the final year of production for this little-known model, which may not be widely recognized by the general public but is certainly legendary among those who’ve had the chance to experience it. I say this because only about 100 units are sold across all of Canada each year. So, it’s not a car you’d expect to see on every corner like a Corolla or a RAV4.

A Different Kind of Car

When you think of Lexus, the first image that comes to mind is likely that of a beige luxury sedan or SUV with a beige interior. Well, that’s not quite the case anymore, but you get the idea. Most people don’t realize that the Japanese automaker also offers a muscle car—a two-door coupe that can be equipped with a hefty V8 engine. That car is the Lexus RC.

The Japanese automaker’s sporty coupe offers two mechanical configurations. First, there’s the option of a 3.5-liter V6 engine, the same found in many Toyota and Lexus models. The power output ranges from 260 to 311 horsepower, depending on the version. In all cases, it’s paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive comes standard.

The Japanese automaker also offers a very different formula: a 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power exclusively to the rear wheels. The V8 also boasts an impressive exhaust note.

A Memorable Farewell

The Lexus RC won’t leave without a spectacular finale, which is why the Japanese automaker is offering a special edition to mark its departure. This special edition will be the only version equipped with the V8 engine. It features a carbon fiber front splitter, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, a carbon fiber roof, and a carbon fiber rear spoiler. It will also come with unique BBS wheels and a one-of-a-kind paint finish. Inside, the car will sport a black-and-red interior.

This final version of the Japanese luxury sports coupe is priced at $114,982. There are no available options, which, in my opinion, makes this car all the more desirable.
